Domain Email Verification: What It Is and Why You Got One
You registered a domain (or updated its contact info) and got an email asking you to verify your address within 15 days. Here's what it means and what happens if you miss it.
If you registered a domain, or changed the registrant email on one you already own, you'll get an email asking you to verify that address. This isn't spam and it isn't optional — it's an ICANN requirement that applies no matter which registrar you use.
Why this exists
ICANN (the organization that oversees how domain names work) requires every registrar to confirm that the email address on a domain's registration actually belongs to someone who can receive mail at it. It's a WHOIS-accuracy rule, not something specific to your order — every registrar sends some version of this email after a registration or a registrant contact-info change.
What to do
Open the email and click the verification link. That's the entire process — there's nothing to fill in, and clicking the link is treated as your consent, so it completes immediately.
The link only works once and is unique to that registration or contact change. If you register several domains at once, you may get more than one.
The 15-day deadline
You have 15 days from the date of that email to click the link. If the 15 days pass without verification, ICANN requires the domain to be suspended — meaning the website and any email on that domain stop working — until you verify. The domain itself isn't cancelled or released; suspension lifts as soon as verification completes.

Didn't get the email, or the link doesn't work?
- Check your spam or promotions folder — verification mail sometimes lands there.
- Make sure the registrant email on the domain is one you actually check. You can review and update it from your dashboard.
- If the link says it's expired or invalid, contact us and we'll get a fresh one sent.
